Salary Range for Accounting Jobs

by Renee
(Quebec, Canada)

I have an interview for an accounting job next week. I want to be sure I get the salary I deserve, but I don't want to price myself out of a potential job.

How can I determine a fair salary to negotiate for when the salaries for accountants have such a broad range?

Renee,

As you know, there are many different types of accounting positions.  Additionally, your skills and years of experience will also come into play during salary negotiations.

I suggest you visit: www.payscale.com. This is one of my preferred sites for salary ranges as it takes into account the job title, your experience and state/provincial salary ranges.

Please remember that you should never ask about salary range in a first interview. The best time to negotiate salary is when the employer is interested in you.

If the interviewer asks you about your salary expectations you can answer "I am sure we can come to a salary agreement, if I am the right person for the job"

Good Luck finding your perfect job!
