Applying for a Job After Being Fired

I was fired from my last job due to a personality clash with an employee with greater seniority. I won't get into the he said she said details, but hopefully you get the picture.
I am now applying for a new job and would like to know how to handle the fact that I was fired from my last job on my resume. Do I even need to mention it?
Randy,
No, you do not have to mention that you were fired in your resume. Simply write the dates you worked at the company e.g. Feb 2008- Nov 2009. However, in an interview, be prepared to answer the question; “Why did you leave your last company?”.
Be truthful without disclosing too much information. A simple answer would be; “I left due to a personality conflict with a co-worker”. You will likely be asked if you left or were asked to leave.
Again, be truthful as the information will come out in a work history background check.You can answer;
“ After discussions with my superior, it was made clear to me that that my co-worker would be staying on at the company.
It was an unfortunate situation as I had a good relationship with my boss and other co-workers.”
Then turn it positive ; “I understood the situation my superior was in, as my co-worker had many years seniority over myself.”
Personality clashes are big “red flags” to potential employers, so make sure to weave in your great interpersonal skills throughout your resume, cover letter and interview.
Good Luck finding your perfect job!
