Preparing for interview - Researching the potential company

Preparing for interview begins with research.

Before attending any interview it is a good idea to spend time learning about the potential company.

Many interviewers will evaluate your interest in joining their company by the time and effort you put into learning about it before the interview.

It is important that you arrive at the company feeling confident and well prepared.

The following is a list of information you should have before the interview:

Company Name,
Location,
Phone number,
Interviewer name,
Interviewer job title,
Time and location of interview,
Size of the organisation, number of employees,
General information on the company’s main product and/or services,
Major Competitors or other organisations in the same field,
Title of Job Vacancy,
Job Description- understand the skills required for the position,
Reports to? ,
Needs of the company and how you respond to these needs,
Some well-thought our questions that would help you further your understanding of the organisation.

After gaining this information You must try to consider how you can display your skills and experience in a positive light and show the potential employer that you are the right person for the job

The following is a list of some of the qualities a potential employer may be looking for:

i. Self starters,
ii. Autonomous,
iii. Able to handle crisis or changes,
iv. Ability to work with a variety of people,
v. Ability to work in teams,
vi. Enthusiasm,
vii. Ability to manage time effectively,
viii. Desire to work for the company ,
ix. Desire for the position,
x. Ability to be promoted,

Take some time to evaluate how you would demonstrate the above to a potential employer based on your skills and experience.
