There are many online discussion groups.
You can look for groups in your area of interest or field of work. You may have to register to join the group, but once you do you will have access to people with similar interests to you. Two of the most popular discussion group sites are on Google (http: groups.google.com) and on yahoo (http://groups.yahoo.com.)

Online networking services are also a great way to meet people.
Sites like Facebook (www.facebook.com) allow you to connect with people. How do you join an Online networking services?

i. You can join the service yourself or you can be invited by an existing member,
ii. You will be asked to create your own personal profile,
iii. You will then invite your friends, family etc to join your network,
iv. They will then invite their friend, family etc to join,
v. These new people are added to your network- which keeps on growing

As with any online service, you need to be careful of the personal information you are willing to, or asked to give. Please be very cautious about the information you place on line since it is out there for literally everyone to see… even a prospective employer!!

Other networking services that are popular include LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) and Ryze (www.ryze.com). These two web-sites are more business oriented than facebook but provide a similar service in helping you build your network.
